Two blacks get life sentences for robbery, rape

rape3Today, 14 March 2014, Siyanda Emmanuel Dlamini (27) and Sthembiso Ernest Mngadi (29) were each sentenced to three life imprisonments at the Durban High Court. Both Dlamini and Mngadi were facing nine counts of rape, inducing another person to commit a sexual offense, attempted murder and robbery with aggravating circumstances. The court found the two accused guilty of all the above mentioned crimes.

On 8 November 2011, both the accused entered a home of unsuspecting victims in Piesang, Inanda. They accosted three vulnerable women and two male occupants and held them at gunpoint. They raped and robbed them of an undisclosed amount of cash and cell phones. These events unfolded before the eyes of their helpless younger brother. They ordered both the brother and the other male to partake in the raping and as a result the other male occupant was shot in the face for protesting, while the brother feigned sexual intercourse with one of his sisters.
