Xenophobic murder case postponed

The Alexandra Magistrate’s Court Tuesday postponed the murder case of Emmanuel Sithole to 4 May 2015, for formal bail application.

Sithole was beaten and stabbed to death in Alexandra on Sunday.

His alleged attackers were documented by a Sunday Times photojournalist James Oatway.

Sithole’s death comes amidst a spate of attacks on foreign nationals in recent weeks.

Police have however said his death was a ‘robbery gone wrong’.

The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) says it will oppose bail “strenuously”.

The four suspects – Sizwe Ngomezulu, Ayanda Sibiya, Sifiso Bhengu and Mfundi Mzimela – have been remanded in custody.
