Bomb scares at two big shopping malls

The police are investigating after bomb scares at two shopping malls in Johannesburg.

Emergency Services and the police’s bomb squad evacuated Cresta in Randburg and Eastgate in Bedfordview.

No devices were found.

Eastgate Mall Spokesperson, Amelia Beattie says, “We receive a bomb threat this afternoon (Thursday), but we call also confirm that the centre has been successfully swept by the emergency services and SAPS and we have been given an all clear.”

“We always do the evacuation as a precautionary measure when we believe it’s necessary because the safety and security of our shoppers and our tenants are important.”

Last year Cresta’s i-store was robbed and five suspects were arrested.
