A possible coalition is on the cards for the United Democratic Movement, Agang SA and the Congress of the People (Cope) ahead of the 2014 general elections.
UDM leader Bantu Holomisa reportedly wants to team up with Agang SA’s Mamphela Ramphele in a bid to challenge the ANC’s dominance in the Eastern Cape.
But the UDM leader denied that an agreement had been reached.
Holomisa would only confirm he had been in talks with the two parties.
“We agreed we would let Agang SA launch themselves as a party and that Cope must find a way to sort through their disputes. We will be meeting again very soon,” said Holomisa.
He added that nothing was concrete.
“The positive thing is that all of us feel strongly that we need to close rank and unite in fighting for the people of South Africa from this maladministration we are witnessing on a daily basis.”
