The ANC’s regional secretary in eThekwini (Durban) has been accused of assaulting a member of the party’s youth league, the Sunday Tribune reported.

According to the report, Bheki Ntshangase was alleged to have struck Menzi Ngcobo, a local ANC Youth League member, at a party meeting in Durban’s Umlazi township recently.

Ntshangase was reportedly incensed that the gates to the hall where the meeting was being held had been locked.

Police spokesman Captain Thulani Zwane told the newspaper that a charge of assault had been lodged at the Umlazi police station.

Ntshangase denied the allegations, the newspaper reported. – Sapa
