Nine people, including a 1-year-old girl, were injured after two suspects used a shotgun to open fire during a block party on a West Philadelphia street in the US on Saturday night.
The gunfire rang out around 10 p.m. along the 4100 block of Ogden Street.
Witnesses told police that two unknown males opened fire on the block with a shotgun. The suspects, according to witnesses, then got into a car and fired more shots, possibly with a handgun.
“It looks like they just randomly fired down the street and hit anyone in their way,” said Philadelphia Police Lt. John Walker.
Investigators said a total of nine people were struck with birdshot from the shotgun.
“It was just a terrible situation,” said Walker.
A bullet grazed a one-year-old girl on the side of her neck, said police. Gunfire also grazed an 11-year-old female in the left knee and struck her right shoulder and hit a 12-year-old boy in the chest. All three children were transported to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia where they are listed in stable condition.
The rest of the victims range in age from 22 to 48. All the adult victims are also listed in stable condition.
The first suspect is described as a black male in his 20’s with a light complexion, neck beard and tattoos on one arm. He was wearing a yellow t-shirt and blue jeans.
The second suspect is described as a black male with a dark complexion wearing dark blue jeans and a black shirt.
